About Marc Moran and Hopewell Farms
As the owner and operator of Hopewell Farms, Marc Moran promotes a healthy, self-sufficient, and sustainable way of life. In order to transition away from a modern industrial suburban lifestyle, he and his wife, Meredith, purchased Hopewell Farms to embrace simplicity, emphasize production over consumption, and achieve a sense of holistic well-being. Since completing construction on their home in 2006, Marc Moran has transformed the farm into a haven that sustains the environment, supports the local economy, and feeds the surrounding rural communities.
With a focus on conservation, Hopewell currently features a 50-foot, 3.7-kilowatt windmill; a solar thermal heating system; and numerous photovoltaic solar panels that generate enough energy to power the entire operation. Furthermore, Hopewell Farms uses no pesticides, chemical fertilizers, growth hormones, or genetic medications to grow and raise its crops and animals. For his enduring efforts to achieve an equilibrium with nature, Mr. Moran was recently featured in Mother Earth News as one of the seven 2012 Homesteaders of the Year. His farm was also named a 2012 New Hampshire Farm of Distinction and recognized as the first Animal Welfare Approved Farm in the state.
Hopewell Farms lies on 50 acres of land in Newbury, New Hampshire, and regularly accepts visitors. During harvest seasons, the farm offers a wide variety of heirloom fruits and vegetables, farm-raised tilapia fillets, and heritage meats. In addition to split firewood that can be ordered in advance and custom cut to fit any wood stove, the farm offers homemade cider, maple syrup, goat cheese, and artisanal vinegar.
